Sirak Financial Services was started when Stanford Sirak joined Equitable of Iowa in 1957 as a life insurance agent. Stan started in a small office over the Harvard Clothing Store in downtown Canton. He joined two agents who had been with Equitable for many years and were in the process of retiring. Shortly thereafter Stan found himself alone to learn the insurance business by himself.

Stan studied hard and within two years he earned the CLU designation which was the highest certification available in the insurance business. Over the next few years Stan's clientele grew rapidly. By the end of his fourth year he qualified for the company's annual convention for agents achieving a high level of production.

In 1969 Stan was joined by his son Mark and several other agents to work with him. The small agency moved to new quarters off of Portage Road. The agency would stay there until 1983 when the company built its own building in the newly developed Belpar area adjacent to the Belden Village Mall. In 1979 Stan's son Gary joined the now growing agency with four additional agents.

In 1986 the life operations did an extensive study of life insurance companies and joined Guardian Life. The life agency continued to grow and Stan and Gary became two of Guardian's top agents. Over the next few years the agency became increasingly involved in the pension and group insurance businesses headed by Gary. Jim Evans was brought on board to start an investment division.

Significant growth was recognized over the next two decades. The companies combined divisions now employed over fifty advisors and support staff. The life division grew to be a major force in the Canton area financial community becoming very active in financial planning and business planning in addition to the traditional uses of life insurance. The investment division also became deeply involved with financial planning that yielded considerable growth. The property and casualty division grew to be one of the largest and premier in the area. In addition to its other areas of concentration the agency became a major supplier of professional liability insurance. It now represents nearly forty companies and insures thousands of companies and families.

The company is now run by Gary and Jim and is one of the top insurance and financial services companies in the state.
